Lynnwood Project:
I find there to be an almost imperceptible line between an event and one’s experience of that event. For the experience, I am individually responsible, excruciatingly responsible. The event passes. This is the role, I believe of the artist today, and Lynnwood helps. The more objectionable, and at the same time familiar, the more this exact line can be teased out and trapped. Pictures of Lynnwood Washington are trapped photographically and carefully copied out in ink and wax. The three colors used: brown, red and orange form the spectral range one experiences, facing the sun with eyes shut. Wax approximates the surface quality of that visual experience. |
